  • Rebecca’s Table - Corner of Main and Milam. Opened 11-07. Excellent food, interesting combinations. Rebecca Rather from Rather Sweet cooks and owns the restaurant. A beautiful menu. No reservations.
  • Hondo’s - In 300 block of West Main. Closed Mon. and Tues. Wonderful hill country atmosphere, bar, live music on the weekends, light but good food (limited menu). Onion strings are great! Lunch and dinner. Tell J.P. or Chris we sent you.
  • The Nest - 830.990.8383. Consistently excellent food, beautifully prepared and presented. Owned and operated by the former executive chef of the Ritz Carlton of Aspen. Reservations a must. Located on Hwy. 87 South. Dinner only Th. - Mon.
  • Navajo Grill - 830.990.8289. Southwestern. Located at 803 East Main. Open for dinner seven nights a week. Dinner reservations are a must. Excellent food and ambience.
  • Cotton Gin - 830.990.5734. Specializes in seafood and steak. Open for buffet lunch M-F. Evening meal is high quality food. 118 Boos Lane, off Hwy. 16 South.
  • Rather Sweet - 249 East Main Street. Recognized in all the national food magazines. Excellent bakery goods, lunches (soups and salads). A personal favorite. Open for breakfast and lunch only. In courtyard area behind Fredericksburg Brewery. USA Today, Dec., ’06 lists it among top ten bakeries in the U.S.
  • Rose Hill Manor - 830.644.5541. A beautiful colonial style B&B at Stonewall, out 290 East off Upper Albert Rd. An elegant treat; excellent food and beautiful view. Reservations a must.
  • Bejas Grill and Cantina - 209 E. Main St. 830.997.5226. Good, casual food in lovely setting on Main Street.
  • Welfare Café - At Welfare, excellent food. If weather permits, sit in the arbor area. A real surprise. Wed. and Sunday evenings music. Must call for reservations. Drive is about 30 minutes.
  • Waring Steak Night - Every Wednesday. At Waring, steak or chicken with salad, nachos, dessert ($20.00 per person). Live music. Mediocre food. No reservation. 30 minute drive.
  • Best Breakfast Taco - Mahaley’s, corner of Main Street and Hwy. 87 South (South Washington).
  • Other Good Restaurants - Peachtree Tea Room, Pasta Bella (for Italian food), and Rathskellar.
